CrossCode Will Launch on Switch in July

It has been a long time coming. Switch owners have been waiting for this action RPG for a very long time, but it appears that CrossCode will finally be arriving on our favorite hybrid console this July. This was a game we saw Nintendo show off at one of their Nindie presentations in January 2019, so you can understand how some people were getting a bit tired of waiting.

But wait no longer! Well, a little bit longer, because CrossCode will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on July 9th.

We do not have a clear answer if the game is releasing across all regions on that date, but DANGEN Entertainment, the publishers for the game in Japan, released a trailer announcing the date for that region.

If that date only applies to the Japanese region, we have a lovely guide that can help you get a Japanese account set up to get the game earlier than your buddies! But I can only assume that this announcement from DANGEN beat out the other regions, and we will get a more formal announcement soon.

What is CrossCode?

This is a retro-inspired 2D action RPG that might surprise you. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

CrossCode is all about how it plays! Take the best out of two popular genres, find a good balance between them and make a great game. That’s what this game does. You get the puzzles of Zelda-esque dungeons and are rewarded with the great variety of equipment you know and love from RPGs. During the fast-paced battles, you will use the tools you find on your journey to reveal and exploit the enemies’ weaknesses, and at the same time you will be able to choose equipment and skills for a more in-depth approach in fighting the enemy at hand.
