Bayonetta aiming gun

The Bayonetta collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Tonight was full of surprise announcements from Nintendo including the release of Breath of the Wild’s Ballad of Champions DLC pack and the momentous reveal of Bayonetta 3.  Nintendo also announced that the Bayonetta 1&2 collection will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 16th.

When Bayonetta 2 was released on the Wii U, the game also included the first one as well.  It had a number of additions, but the most notable of which was Bayonetta’s ability to don a few Nintendo-inspired costumes such as Link’s tunic and weapons, Samus’s armor and Peach’s dress.  Each of these costumes also included a special power themed after that character.  For example, Peach’s dress turned the large demonic fist Bayonetta could summon into Bowser’s fist, and Link’s tunic and weapons had a greater focus on melee attacks.  Bayonetta 2 also had these inclusions, and they were built a lot more fluidly into the sequel with even more costumes at Bayonetta’s disposal.

Considering the loyalty of the Bayonetta fan base, there is not doubt that these games will perform well on the Switch.  It was a brilliant move to announce this collection just before revealing Bayonetta 3.  It has no doubt cemented the hype surrounding this series, and hopefully many newcomers will try it out.  There are few other games out there like Bayonetta.
