With no official information from Square Enix or Nintendo, surprisingly Amazon Germany seems to know a little bit more about a Project Octopath Traveler release date. The retailer has set the date for the US version of the anticipated RPG to be released on August 17th, 2018.

With nothing to back up this assumption, the surprisingly early launch date could of course be another rumor floating around in the game world. But said date is a Friday. In previous releases, Nintendo had always set their dates at a very convenient day for the players to pick a copy up right before they will start their weekends. Plus, in the past Amazon often got their dates right. Not always, but most of the time. So this new information could be legit.

Maybe the eagerly awaited and still to be held next Nintendo Direct will bring some light to this topic. The latest updates from Project Octopath Traveler provided some development, but a statement on how far the progress had been until now is still missing.  Some hints of a possible release this summer could be the listing in the Nintendo eShop as well. Even though the date is not precise in the slightest, Project Octopath Traveler has a certain spot there. Other titles, such as Mario Tennis Aces and other major first- or third-party games, are not previewed as the new RPG is. They are announced, but have yet nothing like the new title from Square Enix had a long time ago.
