The crystal’s light shines over the West as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition has an August release date for the Switch!
This remaster of the beloved spinoff will be hitting the Nintendo eShop on August 27, 2020. In true Square Enix fashion, the developer has overhauled the game for modern audiences. The visuals have been remastered, but that is not all. Instead of cranking out your Game Boy Advances (remember link cables?), you can play online with friends around the world, and not just on Switch, with every platform.
It doesn’t matter if your friend has a PS4 (or even the Android and iOS versions). You can play the whole journey with them, which is really cool.
There are also new gameplay features, such as new areas inside dungeons, a variety of skins to unlock and items to equip, and new bosses. They even added voices to the cast of heroes and a new Mimic feature that has the player take the form of characters you meet during your Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles journey. Let’s hope the voices in battle don’t get annoying. Fingers crossed!
While the game isn’t as graphically impressive as the X and XII remasters, Square Enix added a lot to the original game. Are you excited for this release and are there any more games you’d like to see Square Enix remaster? I’d like to see the company port Final Fantasy XIII for the Switch, and perhaps the lost Xbox 360 games: Infinite Undiscovery and Lost Odyssey. It would be great to get some more JRPG goodness on-the-go from the powerhouse publisher.
