Nintendo Items I Want in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Animal Crossing series has a history of transporting items from other Nintendo worlds into its own. They are amazing references that add decor or even additional games within the game itself! I’d like to see this tradition continue in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so here are some pitches for the Nintendo items I want to see in the game!

The Splatoon Weapons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Splatoon

The Splatoon games have a wide array of weapons that vary drastically to a typical third person “shooter.” I’d love to paint my floor boards with the Splat Roller and spray the walls with the Aerospray RG 101. It would be fun to have that alternate way of accessorizing the look of the house, despite it being quite messy! I could also have a Splatoon hat with the series’ colorful inkling ears while I do it.

Pokemon Themed Items

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Let's Go Eevee

I want to catch all the Pokemon accessories in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but Nintendo won’t let us! For a long time, there hasn’t been a limited time crossover between the two cute franchises until very recently with the mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp (thanks Nintendo Life).

A bunch of Eevee-themed items (I’m Team Pikachu all the way) were added to the app: An Eevee costume, pokeballs, an Eevee table, a Game Boy, and more. I could imagine this being expanded further in New Horizons with various sizes of plushes of your favorite Pokemon, tables, pokeball-themed items (like lamps, tables, etc), and costumes of each generation’s protagonists. There’s so much more they can do.

Playable Nintendo Games within a Game

One of the coolest aspects of the original Animal Crossing on GameCube were the 15 unlockable NES games that could be unlocked and played within. We can all make a wonderful house in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but a gamer’s pad wouldn’t be right without games themselves, right? I’d love to see this feature come back to the game with SNES, N64, and maybe GameCube games as unlockables within New Horizons. Imagine being able to play the original inside the new game? Animal Crossing-ception! What games would you like to play inside New Horizons?

Cappy

Let’s get crazy. What if Cappy was an item in Animal Crossing? Think about it. Like in Super Mario Odyssey, you can take over all the villagers in the game. Being able to parade around as Tom Nook and asking for money from unsuspecting folks, and then taking that money, would be amazing. How about the ability to mess up other villagers’ homes? Would it be game-breaking? Yes. Would it be fun? Certainly. I’d love this.

Super Smash Bros. Items

The Villager has been taking part in Super Smash Bros. fights since accepting their invitation in the 3DS/Wii U version, and yet has nothing to show for it. How about some souvenirs of their exploits in the game? A Smash Ball? The saber sword? The invitation letter itself? I’d love to see some of these items mounted on the wall. I think Nintendo could have some fun with this.
