In this day and age, where many publishers have moved over to the convenience and financially safer option of digital releases, and where the games that DO get a physical release, often come in very limited quantity, where you often have to be quick on the draw to get a copy for yourself, we are here giving you a brief heads-up on 7 upcoming titles with physical Limited Editions, that you might wanna keep a close eye on!
Valkyria Chronicles 4
Set in the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, this tactical role-playing game is set in the German inspired fictional continent of Europa, where the second Europan War is fought between the Atlantic Federation and the Eastern Imperial Alliance. You are commander Claude Wallace, leader of Squad E, who set out to end the war and fight the Valkyria.
The long awaited 4th mainline installment in the Valkyria Chronicles series has already been out for some time on PS4 in Japan, and is now soon also to hit the Nintendo Switch this fall. A demo is available on the eShop, so you can get a taste for the art of war.
Shikhondo – Soul Eater
A Korean bullet-hell is inbound for release on the Switch in just a few days. The Switch already has its fair share of shoot-em ups, but visually and thematically none compare to the sheer vibes of asian culture presented here. So if you love bullet-hells, but none of the ones on the market already were Japanese enough for you, your prayers have been heard.
The Princess Guide
In a world torn by chaos and war, four princesses from four different kingdoms must learn how to lead their people. As a knight of the Princess Knight Training Regimen, you will choose one of them as an apprentice, and teach her how to handle her kingdom, and lead her army to victory. Each princess has her own path and personallity, promting repeated playthroughs, to see everything the game has to offer.
A new quirky strategy RPG that doesn’t take itself too serious, and seems like an interesting spin on the genre.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose
Set in a virtual world, created so people can escape the pain and suffering of their real lives, forced to indefinitely re-live their 3 years of high-school, our main protagonist is part of a group who realize they are in a fake reality, and seek to oppose the system.
Originally released on the PS Vita, a handheld that certainly delivered on the role playing genre, The Caligula Effect: Overdose is a remake that saw its release on PS4 in Japan earlier this year, and is slated for a worldwide release on both PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk
Previously only released for Sony fans of Japan on the PS4 and Vita, this dungeon crawler RPG is soon crawling its way to the PS4 and Switch for a long awaited international release. Developer and publisher Nippon Ichi are known for the popular Disgaea series as well as a hit list off other renowned asian titles, too many to count, so we are definitely in good hands and looking forward to this one.
The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince
Another game by Nippon Ichi, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince, is an action adventure game with a story as peculiar as its title, about a singing wolf who accidentally blinds a prince, then seeks help from a witch to reverse the damage, giving up its singing voice in return for being transformed into a princess, in order to take the blind prince to see the witch.
The game has already seen release in Japan, and will arrive in western territories in 2019.
The legendary one-man indie hit that was all the rage only a couple of years ago. Undertale took the internet by storm with its memorable characters, simple art style, twisted fourth-wall breaking emotional deep plot, fantastic soundtrack, and introduced a new concept to the genre: an RPG where you don’t have to harm anyone.
Undertale first saw release on Steam, later PS4, and is now finally coming to Nintendo Switch.
