Bug Fables Gets a Release Date for Switch

It has been almost a year since Bug Fables graced PCs in June 2019, but the day has finally come for this beautiful, Paper Mario-like RPG to release on home consoles, including our favorite, the Nintendo Switch.

Bug Fables seems like a game that is perfect for the hybrid console. Not only are we currently lacking a Paper Mario game on the Switch, but Bug Fables feels like a game that was tailor made for a Nintendo console. The look, the feel, and the overall charm just scream “CUTE!”, and it is a game I have been waiting to release on Switch for a long time.

Here is the press release from DANGEN Entertainment;

OSAKA, April 30th, 2020 – Moonsprout Games and DANGEN Entertainment today announced the release date of Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling for May 28th, 2020 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One digital game platforms. This long-awaited announcement comes as good news for players who have been eagerly awaiting Bug Fables’ release on home consoles. Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling, which released last November on PC platforms, has received an Overwhelmingly Positive response on Steam with 99% positive reviews and has been described as “one of the best games of 2019” by reviewers.

Bug Fables is a paper style adventure-RPG that follows the story of three small heroes on their quest in Bugaria to find the legendary treasure that can grant immortality. It has been praised for its lovable artwork and characters, charming story and dynamic combat, reminding players of the RPGs of their youth with a nostalgic yet refreshing experience. The game will carry a digital price of $24.99 on consoles. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One will be available on May 14th.

“I’ve dreamed of seeing my game on consoles my entire life.” said Moonsprout Games lead developer, José Fernando Gracia, who has been working on Bug Fables with his team and fan base since the game’s inception in 2018. “I can’t wait to see a new wave of players explore the world of Bug Fables. No matter what console they choose to play it on, I hope Bug Fables gives them a huge smile. To everyone who has supported us until this day, thank you very much! We’ve gotten this far thanks to you!” The game began as a successful campaign on Indiegogo where it gained its initial attention and went on to develop a sizable fan base.

In Bug Fables, players control three aspiring heroes, Kabbu the beetle, Vi the bee, and Lief the moth, each with their own personalities, as they traverse vast overworlds and dungeons using their unique abilities to solve puzzles and make their way across the kingdom in search of The Everlasting Sapling. Key locations include the Ant Kingdom, the treacherous Snakemouth Den, the picturesque Golden Hills, The Lost Sands and Vi’s home, the Bee Kingdom. Bugaria is sprinkled with an eclectic cast of NPCs who offer help and initiate quests for the heroes to undertake while following the main story. The game’s Cooking System allows players to collect rare ingredients throughout the world and create their own unique items for use inside battle and out.

Exploration transitions into turn-based combat, which makes use of time-based Action Commands that can be used to execute special moves or block enemy attacks. Players can fling Vi’s Beemerang, cast Leif’s Ice Magic or smash with Kabbu’s Horn to make attacks more powerful. They can turn the tide of battle with the Turn Relay feature to swap order and exploit enemy weaknesses with the power of teamwork. The game features seven full-length chapters and offers players an immersive RPG experience with hidden bosses, characters and items to discover. Players of all ages are sure to find something fun and charming in Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling.
