Yo-Kai Watch from Level 5 was a Nintendo 3DS title with a lot of popularity in Japan. The releases come slowly to the West (Yo-Kai Watch 3 will probably come soon, but it has been out since 2016 in Japan), but Japanese fans can be excited: the next Yo-Kai Watch will be released on Nintendo Switch! To be honest, fans outside of Japan have to be very patient.
The first release in Japan was on July 11, 2013. The NA release had been two years later in 2015. Players in Europe even had to wait until April 29, 2016. The previous titles faced the same fate, being published in Japan and roughly hitting the US and EU two years later. So it comes as no surprise that the latest addition might take a while to make its way over to the Western players.
The upcoming Switch release isn’t too surprising. The titles for the Nintendo 3DS were pushing the handheld graphically to its limits. Plus, as sad as it might be, the system is aging, too. Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level 5, stated the following regarding the upcoming Yo-Kai Watch title:
“Its content is getting a super high-grade power up, including some things that will surprise everyone.”
The latest issue of Famitsu will hold more information regarding this best-selling game for sure. The newest Yo-Kai Watch is very likely to have its launch in winter, so it will be a perfect Christmas present for Japanese fans!
