Paper Mario: The Origami King Arrives on Switch Soon

In another shocking turn of events, Nintendo out of the blue just announced a new Paper Mario game in the form of Paper Mario: The Origami King. This will be the first Paper Mario game on the Nintendo Switch, and it is a welcome addition for a console that is the hottest selling item in the world right now.

Below is Nintendo’s announcement video from Twitter:

Arriving on July 17, fans of the series will be able to dive back into the beloved paper world for the first time since Paper Mario: Color Splash on the Wii U released back in late 2016.

This time around Paper Mario is back in Paper Mario: The Origami King, and this looks to be a great twist on the franchise. It looks like certain figures in the paper Mushroom Kingdom have transformed into origami versions of themselves, and Paper Mario is in a bit of a mess.

An origami plot unfolds as Paper Mario learns to manage some of the new abilities the world has to offer thanks to the magical use of Japanese paper folding.

There look to be some great twists to the franchise formula, and there are even some fun appearances by the likes of Ninji and others. The Paper Mario franchise caters to a niche market, and it is an absolute welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch library, especially when the announcement is telling us we will be able to get our hands on it so soon!

Thanks to this COVID-19 pandemic, it is so nice to see Nintendo still surprising us with some major release announcements to help us keep our sanity as most of us are still in a quarantine state.
