Are you nostalgic for the Gamecube controller? Are you an old-school Smasher who just can’t imagine yourself playing the game with anything other than it? Is there something about that jellybean button layout which perpetually appeals to you?
Have you been using your old ‘Cube controllers on the Switch ever since they became compatible with the system update version but have been disappointed that you couldn’t use them properly with every game because of the GC controller’s limited number of buttons? If you answered yes to any of those questions, PowerA has a solution for you coming in the not-too-distant future. If you take a close look at the images, this newly updated version of the Gamecube controller comes in the classic layout. All of the expected buttons, C-stick and little D-pad are exactly where we have come to associate them.
However, you might notice that they also now have a ZL button as well as Plus, Minus and Home buttons. It wouldn’t surprise me if the analogue and C-sticks are clickable as well. This is great news since this will make it far easier to play all of your Switch games using these controllers. Reddit user Mew_the_Creator leaked the images from the facility where he works saying, “Nintendo sent them to our facility to produce product layout for stores so the actual controllers aren’t in there, but the product is confirmed.” These controllers may have been created by PowerA, but they have officially licensed Nintendo products.
PowerA have already made some great looking controllers for the Switch as per below and are a reasonable price at that.
What do you think? Are you excited by the prospect of newly redesigned Gamecube controllers coming in the near future? Would you rather see an official pro controller with gryo, HD rumble and wireless features instead? Let us know down in the comments below!
