The Nintendo Switch has a whole lot of sales going on this coming week, courtesy of the holidays. Thankfully, James, Jordan, and Juan bring us their top picks out of the sales this week! Hello! And Happy Holidays everyone. I’m James Romero, and along with Juan and Jordan, we scour the Nintendo eShop in search of the best deals every week!
This week it is the Festive Offers sale from Nintendo with over 700 games on offer in the UK and EU. We have handpicked the best deals. ENTER THE GUNGEON
Enter the Gungeon is one of the best rogue-like twin-stick shooters on the Switch. It is full of challenging areas and clever weapons. The bit graphics and arcade tunes work perfectly, supporting the tight gameplay. Everyone can enjoy this one. It is worth the full price. At 50% off, it is a fantastic bargain. The devs have added new content, including co-op play, so you can tackle this with a buddy at Christmas.
GUACAMELEE
Guacamelee is a game that needs no introduction. It is a magical and creative title that fully embraces the Lucha Libre wrestling and mystical folklore of Mexico. Mashed together with some great humor and a fantastic gameplay. The Super Turbo Championship Edition on the Switch brings lots of little enhancements as well as new areas to be explored.
Guacamelee 2 is also on sale, and it is a worthy successor building on the first title. At 50% off as well, both of these are worth picking up.
ARAGAMI
Aragami is a stealth game that focuses on staying in the shadows. If you get caught, you are dead. It takes you back to titles like the original Metal Gear Solid, staying away from glorious and powerful moves. Aragami makes for a tactical and interesting game. It is not perfect, but it is a good title that is worth a play through.
SLAIN: BACK FROM HELL
When this was originally released on other platforms it had poor controls and some issues that let the game down. When it got ported to the Switch, a lot of these issues were fixed, and what we were left with is a decent Castlevania inspired, heavy metal hack-n-slash title. If you love a brutal challenge and do not mind dying repeatedly, then this will be a game for you. If you do not find that fun, then stay well clear of it. There are no difficulty settings here. It is what it is, so you either live with that or you do not. At such a heavy discount, it is a nice grab!
SAINTS ROW: THE THIRD THE FULL PACKAGE
Not everyone’s favorite title in the series, Saints Row: The Third is a good port, but it does not fix the game’s underlying issues. As such, it is hard to justify if you have already played it. However, enjoying this on the move, especially at 50% off, it is still a good game.
MINIT
Devolver Digital have a great track record on the Switch, and Minit does not disappoint. It is intentionally short and restricted to a small old-school, low-tech world. It has really good puzzles and is perfect to play over a couple of hours. There is something to be said about a game that is enjoyed and then put down before if loses its shine.
STEAMWORLD QUEST: HAND OF GILGAMECH
Image and form continue to knock it out of the park with their SteamWorld series. This time around, it is in the form of a turn-based RPG. It is fresh and fun to play with an intriguing and deep combat system that uses cards to great effect. The graphics and music are at the level that we have come to expect from Image and Form. This is another brilliant game from them.
PUYO PUYO TETRIS
Combining two iconic puzzle franchises, Puyo Puyo Tetris is a comprehensive, solid puzzle title that is a joy to play. The main issue with it for me is the high cost. So now with 70% off, it is the right time to buy if you want a solid puzzle title.
DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN 2 – DEFINITIVE EDITION
Divinity Original Sin 2 has rightly been one of the highest praised RPGs on PC in recent years. It is a big undertaking to port it over to the Switch. Mostly the job is very solid. However, there are of course reduced visuals and trimmed areas. But overall, this is still a brilliant game. The interface works well, and this is one of the best turn-based RPG games out there.
ICONOCLASTS
This is an action platformer with lots of puzzles and a surprisingly interesting story. Made by just one person, it is one of those titles that is better than the sum of its parts. The visuals are decent, the audio is decent, and the gameplay is appealing, but together it is a bit magical. A really fun experience.
