The final Shovel Knight expansions will not be released in their planned schedule of April. Yacht Club Games announced that they had delayed the platformer Shovel Knight: King of Cards, multiplayer fighting game Shovel Knight Showdown, and the physical release of the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove collection by “several months.”

“It remains our focus to bring these to the highest level of quality just as we have with previous Shovel Knight games,” the team wrote in a blog post. “It’s also our priority to have these games on the disc/card for the upcoming physical version. We need a little more time to make this happen, and so we are pushing the release back one last time.”

The remainder of the Shovel Knight saga initially was to launch on April 9; Yacht Club hasn’t announced a new date yet, and won’t “until we know one for sure, from all partners involved.”

The delay is partly to do with how many consoles Shovel knight has been released on and how Yacht Club Games is making every single version of the game work as intended. This means updating, testing, and bug fixing every version along the way. Shovel Knight is even compatible with consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Wii U. (Showdown won’t come to Nintendo 3DS or PlayStation Vita, however.)

Amiibo Too?

The accompanying new amiibo has also been delayed. Announced in 2017, the three figures support King of Cards, which means Yacht Club won’t release them until that game is also ready.
