An absolute bombshell announcement just dropped out of nowhere. Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 7 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in Japan on May 24th! However, the unexpected caveat is that like Phantasy Star Online 2, Resident Evil 7 will be run off the Cloud. To play it, you will need a stable internet connection, and it will not require much of your hardware space. Players can play the first 15 minutes for free but afterward will be required to pay ¥2000 ($18.01 USD) to access the rest of the game. This so-called ticket will grant you access to the game for 180 days, and the Banned Footage Volume 1&2, End of Zoe and Not a Hero DLC packs will be included with this ticket.
Capcom revealed this new via a trailer which you can check out here:
What this essentially means is that you will be streaming it from another source which allows the game to be run on the Switch smoothly even if the Switch’s hardware specs aren’t quite enough to play it. Have these companies found a way to bring their technically advanced games to Nintendo’s portable console without making too many sacrifices to the experience?
Are you excited by the fact that RE7 is officially coming to the Switch? Are you satisfied to at least have the option to play such games on the Switch despite just essentially “renting” it for a limited time as opposed to owning it? Let us know your opinions in the comments below!
