Fortnite on Nintendo Switch has microphone support

Fortnite was announced for the Switch during Nintendo’s E3 direct and released today. This is exciting for many as Fortnite is easily the most popular game in the current climate. The Switch version does have cross play between platforms, though Sony is blocking PS4 players from connecting with Nintendo players.

In a surprise turn of events, Fortnite allows you to use voice chat without the use of the Nintendo app. Instead, you can plug your mic straight into the system, a first for the Nintendo Switch. This dispels the myth that the Switch cannot do voice chat via the system itself, and raises some questions as to how Nintendo has chosen to handle voice chat in its other games thus far.
