The regularly scheduled Bargains video is up! Our friends at SwitchWatchTV have put together a solid list of sales happening across the globe on the eShop. Check out the video below, or continue downward to see the list and discounts.
What’s up, guys. Jordan here from SwitchWatch! Back again still filling in for James while he’s having a nice holiday rest. Don’t worry. I’ll have my rest soon enough!
Anyways, I’m here to tell you all the best bargains available on the Nintendo Switch this week. As always, we give away a $10 dollar eShop voucher to one person every week. This is chosen at random as long as you leave a comment telling us your pick of the week. But because on Friday we had an extra bonus episode, this week you need to leave a comment on both. Last week’s winner will be announced at the end of this episode.
Let’s start with our personal picks!
Pato Box – Jordan’s Pick
While there are some big titles still discounted on the Nintendo Switch, I’m going for one of my personal favorite indies as my pick of the week. Pato Box is 70% off. That, my friends, is a bargain. It was a decent £13.49 in the UK, but that tasty discount makes it £4.04. That is an absolute steal. Likewise, in the US, it’s down to $4.49. If you like Punch-Out, then you’ll love this. It’s expanded on that classic top down fighting gameplay with some adventure style elements. A fun story, a fantastic art-style, I really enjoyed this game when I got to review it. So much so that I even bought the physical version when it became available later down the line.
I really feel like this went under the radar considering it’s such a unique game. It’s not perfect or anything, but for 4 quid? I mean, do yourselves a favor guys. Get it. If you’re tired of the same old pixel platformers or 2D dark souls that indies go for over and over again, this is the remedy. Support this game!
Pato Box
All right, James and Juan are technically still on their jollies but that ain’t stopping them from giving a pick of the week. Over to you guys!
Little Nightmares Complete Edition – James’ Pick
Little Nightmares is great little horror game from Bandai Namco that is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch. If you want an incredibly eerie atmosphere with some truly grotesque imagery, look no further. It was a tad expensive at it’s original asking price, but with 60% off, it’s something you can’t say no to. It’s been this low before and probably will be again in the future, but you still shouldn’t miss out on this bargain to prepare yourself for the sequel coming in 2020.
Little Nightmares
Shakedown Hawaii – Juan’s Pick
Shakedown Hawaii is an excellent top-down GTA-like game. Very reminiscent of the early GTA games, but with a very retro feel, and it plays excellently. Pixel carnage at its finest as you go around building your empire. It’s now at an unmissable price of under 10 dollars. For those who were originally on the fence, you should now jump on board. There’s a reason it was featured in our Top 15 Switch Games of 2019!

Thanks lads, let’s get into the rest of the list!
De Blob 1 + 2
Going for a double listing here with De Blob 1 + 2, these two are some cult classic games. And while we’re not going to pretend they haven’t been around the block multiple times since the first game’s release on the Wii more than 10 years ago, they are still a delight and now at very lovely prices. Both games at their standard digital price are an ambitious $30, but with 80% off the original and 75% off the sequel coming in at $5.99 and $7.49, respectively, these are an absolute steal. Especially the first game. I literally bought a coffee and a muffin this morning for more than that. Two quality platforming games where you have to repaint the world in vibrant colors. They are simple but very cathartic to play and should be snatched up at such a lovely low price. The are both on sale until the 2nd of January.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization
Sword Art Online Hollow Realization is a pseudo-MMO RPG but with a very heavy steering towards a JRPG. This release by Bandai Namco is very dedicated in pleasing fans of the anime series with its massive world and countless things to do within it. It’s combat is fun and fluid and seems to be much better adapted for consoles than ever before. It’s certainly not the most essential of RPGs on the Switch, but now with 60% off this is perhaps the time to give it a chance if you’ve been on the fence about it. Especially for those who are looking for an MMO to sink their time into without the constant social obligations of it. US people need to be quick though as the sale ends December 30th for you, while UK folk have until January 5th.
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Deluxe Edition
This Is The Police
While both games in the series are currently on sale on the Switch, we’d definitely plop for the original This is The Police with it’s current 80% off discount. This is a strategy/adventure style game where you are a ruthless Police Chief charged with bringing the city into order. With money being tight, you have to make it to retirement rather than have your head on the chopping block. You have to do that by any means necessary. It’s an intriguing game for sure, perhaps not entirely balanced. However it’s a game that’s not afraid to hold back with some of the nastier sides of life, crime, and law enforcement. With it now just being $6, it has to be worth a try if you’re into real-time strategy. You have until January 2nd.

Rayman Legends
When one of the best Triple-A platormers on the Nintendo Switch goes on sale for 75% off, you’d be daft not to pick it up, right? Rayman Legends is a critically acclaimed platformer from Ubisoft. It’s one of the must have titles, no question about it. Featuring meticulously crafted levels, it allows for free flowing movement as well as providing nice little secrets for those looking for all those collectables. For £7.49, you’d be mad to pass up on this if you haven’t played it before. The Switch version really is the Definitive Edition with some nice little additions that really round the package off. If you’re tired of Mario platformers, Rayman Legends is definitely the next step. You can pick this up on sale until 2nd of January for UK/EU and Jan 1st for America.

Into the Breach
Into the Breach is an impeccably crafted turn-based strategy game from Subset Games. There are many high quality strategy games on the Switch these days, but this may be the most finely tuned of them all in terms of how well designed the systems are. It’s difficult, but you can outsmart the enemies if you know how. This will be a fantastic test of your deduction skills if you want to save Earth’s cities from invaders. It had a cheap initial price at just over £11, but now with 50% off, you’re robbing them blind! If you like games such as Wargroove, then this is 100% a game that should be on your list. You have until January 2nd.
Into the Breach
Kamiko
When it comes to standout indie titles, especially those early in the Switch’s life, few stood out more than Kamiko. It was cheap yet wonderfully crafted and was a massive success on the Switch, shifting hundreds of thousands of copies. Well, if you thought $5 was cheap, how about 60% off, now at 1.99? Yes, cheaper than anything I can think of to compare it to. Not many people talk about it these days compared to when it first came out, but it definitely needs another place in the spotlight. This should be the discount to do it.
You have until January 2nd
Kamiko
Graveyard Keeper
Graveyard Keeper is a Stardew Valley-type game, except with dead bodies. While it doesn’t quite reach the levels of that game in terms of quality, it’s still a decent enough effort and there’s decent fun to be had, especially with it now having 65% off. It was $19.99 and now only $6.99 which for us is an excellent value. We think this one is definitely worth a punt if you’re wanting something like Stardew but with a bit of a twist. You have until the 6th of January.

LEGO City Undercover
Lego City Undercover is the perfect game if you’re looking for a child-friendly GTA-style game, or perhaps for yourself if you’re tired of all the blood, murder, and hookers. You are pleasingly named Chase McCain, a police offer who’s undercover trying to track down a notorious criminal. A large open world filled with classic Lego comedy, this is something that will brighten up anyone’s day. It’s on sale in the UK with 70% off, now at £14.99 which is not something to be sniffed at. But wait! There’s more! Actually you may want to check out the US price which has the same discount, but has a cheaper starting price, so it’s down to $8.99. Wow. Get it! Sale for this one ends January 2nd for Europe, Americans don’t have long though. They have until December 31st.
Lego City Undercover
Xenoraid
One fantastic little indie shmup at a bargain basement is Xenoraid. As far as modern shmups go, this is a fine little option that features swappable crafting mid-level. Each have their own unique skills and health, and it’s at 90% off in Europe. Down from £9 to just 89pence. Yes, I can recommend giving this one a try. There are a lot of cheap shooter wannabes out there, and while Xenoraid isn’t a classic by any means, it definitely gives a good try and is something shmup fans may end up liking quite a bit. It been out a few years now and it’s rarely been on sale. This is the lowest it’s ever been, so now is the time to pick it up if you have a few gold coins to spare. Sale ends January 2nd.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima
World of Final Fantasy Maxima is a spin-off JRPG of the world renowned series and, you know what? It might be right up there with them in terms of quality. Certainly better than the train wreck of FF13. This is a celebration of the franchise as a whole as it features many well-loved characters from different entries in the series. It is a JRPG, but it does have a few unique twists that really set it apart from the others in terms of gameplay gimmicks as well as story telling, which has some western animation influences rather than what you may usually expect from a Final Fantasy game. As an older port, the original $40/£35 price tag may have been a bit much for some, but now it’s 50% off until January 2nd, so you can get it for a very manageable $19.99/£17.49. You have until January 2nd.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima
Masters of Anima
Masters of Anima is an interesting indie game. A real-time strategy-adventure game that feels a lot like Pikmin as you control your minions known as guardians to attack giant bosses as well as solve environmental puzzles. I quite enjoyed reviewing this one and looking back, it really is a unique game, especially with the lack of Pikmin around on Switch. It’s currently 75% off down from $20 to just $5 in the US, and now £4 in the UK and I think it’s worth it for anybody at that price. Sale ends January 13th.
Masters of Anima
Cities Skylines
Cities Skylines is a fairly unique game on the Nintendo Switch. I can’t think of too many city building simulators, at least one with the same amount of depth and realism of this. I remember when this first came out, it was a surprise release after a direct along with Final Fantasy XV Chibi-version. And I absolutely caned this. For a couple of weeks I played this daily, for at least 3 or 4 hours at a time, watching my city grow and eventually watching it completely collapse. At its heart, it’s just a massive puzzle game where you have to solve your own mistakes and oversights. It wasn’t cheap initially, but I don’t regret it. Now with 60% off at just $15.99 in the US, it’s a definite recommendation from me. Sure, it may not have the performance many may require, but as an on-the-go city grower, it’s excellent on the Switch. You have until January 2nd.

Crystal Crisis
Crystal Crisis is a lovely little action puzzle game. Featuring a crossover of many niche characters, especially those that publisher Nicalis have worked with over the years. It includes Binding of Isaac, Astro Boy, Cave Story, as well as a few other. It’s a color matching game that gives the illusion of a 1 v 1 fighter harking back to a once popular genre. It’s chaotic but very fun, and now at 50% off on the US eShop at just $9.99, it’s at it’s lowest price so far. You have until January 7th!

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince
The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince isn’t your usual game that you’d get from NIS America. This is a beautiful, sweet puzzle platformer that has all the hallmarkings of an ancient fairy tale. Not your standard fan service anime that you would usually get. You are a princess who can transform into a wolf and help guide the prince to safety. While it’s nothing groundbreaking, it’s certainly worth a look for something a bit different. In fact, the only original downside was the price-to-hours ratio wasn’t great. It’s only about 4 hours long, and so the £20 price tag seemed a little much. But now with 50% off and at $9.99 in the US until January 10th. That’s a much better deal.

Hob: The Definitive Edition
Hob is currently 30% off down from £17.99 in the UK to £12.59. It’s not the biggest bargain ever, but we think that this one flew under the radar for many when it released and it certainly deserves a second chance in the spotlight which hopefully this sale can provide. Plus, this Switch port was handled by Panic Button. Need we say more? You have until January 2nd.

Ghost Blade HD
Ghost Blade HD is having a decent 30% off. This is a modern bullet-hell shmup that was nicely received when it first released. It’s old school in style allowing you to turn your Switch vertically to enjoy the full length of the screen while still keeping the gameplay tight. Or I guess you could just turn your TV sideways. While it’s not a classic, it’s still one fans of shooters will want to pick up especially at this lower price of $10.49 in the US and £9.44 in the UK. You have until January 2nd for this one in the UK, while North Americans have a bit longer. They have until January 9th.
Ghost Blade HD
Atooi Games Discounts
Atooi games have some heavy discounts on all of their releases, all with 90% off. Yes, they have been discounted this heavily before, but now is the chance to hoover them up if you missed them the first time around. Personally we would give very solid recommendations to both Xeodrifter and Mutant Mudds Collection.
Xeodrifter
Xeodrifter is a short and sweet Metroidvania, about 3 hours long or so, which makes that ¢99 price tag very tempting, especially because the quality is actually quite good too. It’s certainly worth more than a dollar, no doubt about that.
Xeodrifter

Mutant Mudds Collections
Mutant Mudds Collection is three games in one. The first Mutant Mudds, plus its sequel. These are basic looking, but tough and neatly designed that make great use of the background and foreground within the levels. The last game is a puzzle game created specifically for this release, and now it’s all for $1.49 in the US. There’s no sale in the UK or Europe at the time of writing, sadly, but we’re sure one will be on the way in the near future. January 13th is the end date of this sale for the US.

There Are Your Bargains!
And by the way, while we’re not usually here to tell you which games to avoid, we strongly advise you to stay clear of Soccer Slammers unless you plan on playing with a friend. Single Player is atrocious.
So which is your pick of the week? Any of these? Or do you have something else you want to say? Last week’s winner of our $10 eShop voucher is interesting, because Jordan gets to choose. This week’s winner is Peter Clark! Thanks for the comment, my man. Send us an email and we will sort you out with your $10 eShop card.
If you want to win this week’s, you need to comment on this video and on Friday’s bonus episode, and we’ll choose someone who commented on both. We will announce the winner in next week’s episode. Check out that bonus episode as it’s pretty much double servings this week. Check out Jordan’s video of all the physical releases coming to the Switch every week, and do not forget to support your boys over at SwitchWatchTV.
Thank you for checking us out here at SwitchWatch.co.uk! I hope this served you well. Happy gaming, everyone.
