I am Juan Romero from SwitchWatch, and welcome to a colossal Nintendo Switch release schedule for the week ahead. Get yourself a drink, check your bank account, and get ready, because without a doubt cash will be leaving the wallet this week. This is a wallet buster week, so let’s get started and take a look at all these great games dropping on Switch. Perhaps we should call it the Double Dipper week! Here are 10 New Switch Titles Releasing This Week.
Minecraft Dungeons
May 26th
£16,74 $19,99 19,99
Minecraft Dungeons is inspired by classic dungeon crawlers and is set in the Minecraft Universe. You can go solo or with a team of 4 online. There is treasure to find and loads of action in the varied levels on offer here all in aid to saving the villagers and take down the evil arch-illager. I think this one will excite a lot of people in this game packed week. Is this one you are looking forward to?
Little Miss Fortune In a week like this it is easy for games like this to get a little lost but this is one I am looking forward to. An interactive story game which focuses on exploration and its characters. There is darkness here and choices have consequences. If you have heard of the video game Fran Bow which was created by Killmonday Games then this should be something to look forward to.
Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling
May 28th
$24.99
When are RPG guests ever unepic? However, there is a game with that name, which is actually pretty epic, but I digress. Here we have platforming where you can explore using the character’s unique abilities, and also mix in some turn based combat. I actually quite like the sound of this, but with so many games releasing this week, will this become lost amongst it all?
Shantae and the Seven Sirens
May 28th
$29,99
Shantae is one of my favourite games to kick back and enjoy on my Switch. I’ve loved every previous outing—this now being the fifth instalment. This time, she gains new Fusion Magic abilities and will be exploring a vast sunken city. That means water, and I absolutely love exploring sunken cities in games; it always sends my imagination into overdrive. Will there be sharks, dolphins, or some unknown creatures lurking below? Either way, this is shaping up to be her biggest adventure yet. What a week this is going to be!
Let’s Sing 2020
May 28th in America but was already available in EU 35,99 $44,99 £39,99
For the singers among you, Let’s Sing 2020 lets you perform solo or with up to six people in total. It features a wide variety of songs from artists like Rita Ora, Queen, and more. You’ll also be able to purchase additional song packs later on and even use your phone as a microphone. While this one isn’t for me, I’m sure it’ll be a hit with aspiring singers or anyone who just wants to have fun singing with friends and family.
Atomicrops
May 28th
£13,49 $14,99 14,99
Atomicrops had my attention the moment I saw it was being published by RawFury, a publisher known for consistently putting out great indie games. From the outset, it looked like a winner – a wild mix of Stardew Valley and Enter the Gungeon. That alone was an instant buy for me. Then I watched the trailer, took in the visuals and humour, and my money had already left my account for a pre-order.
In the game, your farm gets blown to bits by an atomic bomb, but you survive thanks to the good fortune of being in a bomb shelter. Now you’re faced with all kinds of bizarre post-nuclear pests that are eager to devour your crops. So you’re not just a farmer – you’re also a killer. And in between all that chaos, you can even get married. I mean, there’s always time to get married… right?
Resolution
May 28th
£17,99 $19,99 19,99
Resolution is an indie game that immediately caught my attention. I loved the visual style as soon as I saw it. You play as an ageing killer, escorting an AI through chaotic combat encounters while also solving puzzles. The future is fractured, but it’s one you’re free to explore as you work to unravel its mysteries.
Borderlands Legendary Collection
May 29th
£39,99 $49,99 49,99 EU
Well, if you haven’t heard of Borderlands by now, then you’ve definitely been missing out. Previously released on other platforms, this collection includes Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, along with loads of additional content. Altogether, that adds up to well over 100 hours of gameplay.
Everything can be enjoyed solo, in two-player split-screen, or with up to four players in online co-op, so it really covers all bases. If you love shooters – especially ones you can enjoy with a friend – this is a must-pick-up, whether you’re double-dipping or jumping in for the first time. We absolutely can’t wait to play this on the move.
Bioshock Collection
May 29th
£39,99 $49,99 49,99 EU
Another massive collection from Take-Two Interactive brings us the incredible BioShock series. This collection includes BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered, and BioShock Infinite, along with all single-player add-on content.
If you’ve never had the chance to explore the undersea city of Rapture, now is the perfect time. These are fantastic FPS games that still stand the test of time even today. This is another collection I can’t wait to get my hands on, whether playing at home or on the move.
XCOM 2 Collection
May 29th
£39,99 $49,99 49,99 EU
Lastly this week from Take-Two – because six games clearly weren’t enough – they’re also releasing XCOM 2, all on the same day. I mean, they could’ve spread things out a bit to give our wallets some breathing room!
This award-winning strategy game is now coming to Switch with all DLC included, and it’s another title we can’t wait to double dip on.
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
May 29th
£49,99 $59,99 59,99 EU
Xenoblade Chronicles is also arriving in a gorgeous physical edition, which I’m sure Jordan will be telling you all about on Monday – yet another release in this jaw-dropping week of games.
Following the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is launching almost 10 years after its original release on the Wii. Most of the English voice cast have returned to reprise their roles, and there’s also a brand-new adventure to dive into.
The original game was already fantastic, and this remaster looks like a must-buy for any RPG fan.
